Are you new to Defgrip? Just started checking the site over the last year or 2? Well, time to catch up on some sweet original content our crew have produced. If you’ve been with us since the beginning, there’s no harm in revisiting these again. Either way, we appreciate ya.
Harrison Boyce and Andrew McMullen have sat down with some interesting BMX & NON-BMX characters for video interviews starting back in 2008. These interviews were pretty different for BMX at the time and I think they did a good job at connecting you with these people (I didn’t produce them so I can say that, ha). Subjects include Ruben Alcantara, Cory Nastazio (probably the most talked about Original), Greyboy, The History of Oakley and much much much more…

Nigel Sylvester just released his second signature watch with G-Shock and to kick off the launch, Nigel put together a quick tour through Europe, properly titled #Trippinthrueurope. The plan was to start in Tallinn Estonia at Simple Session, then head to London for a few days, from London to Paris, then spend the last weekend in Warsaw, Poland.
The trip consisted of Nigel, his manager Hawaii Mike and myself. The whole thing went by super fast and I’m not sure if we slept for more than three hours each night. We really tried to cram as much in as possible and even though we barely had any time to ride, we had a really great time. Huge thanks to everyone we got to meet up with on the trip and hopefully I’ll get to go back to all of these cities again and spend more time exploring and seeing everyone.
The photos in the gallery are in no particular order. I was filming most of the time and I didn’t get to shoot as many photos as I would have liked, but I did manage to capture a few moments. I shot the most in Warsaw when we spent the day walking around the city. It’s so crazy to me that the entire city of Warsaw was completely destroyed in World War II. So tragic.
Hope you enjoy the photos and keep an eye out for a video from the trip. Big thanks to Nigel and Hawaii Mike for such a great trip!
To celebrate the release of Nigel Sylvester’s new G-Shock watch he teamed up with his long time sponsor Animal to produce a limited run of sprockets. Keep reading to check out more photos and info on how you can win one, as well as info about his Europe tour that will kick off at Simple Sessions this weekend. I’m going to be cruising around with Nigel on the tour, so follow me and Nigel on instagram for updates from the trip!

This past year I had the opportunity to work on the Get Sylvester series with Nigel Sylvester. We put together some great videos and got the chance to travel to a bunch of amazing places. Even though I was filming most of the time, I was able to snap a few photos along the way and put together this gallery of photos. Most of them are from our trips to Barcelona and the Dominican Republic. Keep reading to check them out!
Last month, I spent 10 days in the Dominican Republic with Nigel to film for a G-Shock edit as well as getting some footage for Get Sylvester. While I’m editing the Get Sylvester episode as I type this, the G-Shock edit just dropped! With riding footage filmed by John Hicks, I’m really stoked on how this edit turned out. Always love a nice solid riding video from Nigel. Check it!
Also, if you haven’t seen it, keep reading to check out a dope video that Pharrell Williams posted yesterday with Nigel.
Here’s the latest episode of Get Sylvester… This time we switched it up a little bit and asked Bun B to help us out with some narration. We were in LA on the last day of the Gumball 3000 (a crazy car rally from NY – LA) and while we were talking to Bun, who is one of the biggest Gumball ambassadors and has been on the rally for the past few years, about doing a voiceover he brought up this poem that he had written the morning of the last day… With such an amazing trip that is so difficult to sum up in video of photos, this poem was beyond perfect.
Check out Bun B’s poem “Ode to 14″ above and keep reading to catch up on the last few episodes of Get Sylvester.
As you may have noticed, the site has a been a bit slow lately… That has a lot to do with the fact that I just got home from one of the busiest travel months I’ve had in a long time. I was home for only four days in May and the rest were spent seeing the world and having a blast. The last week I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go on the Gumball 3000. Nigel Sylvester was invited by Gumball to go on the drive from New York to Los Angeles and I joined him to document the whole thing for his Get Sylvester series.
There’s no real way for me to sum up the trip in a blog post, but what I can say is that it was one of the best trips I’ve had in my life, I met some incredible people, was inspired more than I have ever been in a long time, and I didn’t want to see the trip come to an end. I swear we could have been driving for two months straight and I would still feel like the trip ended short.
Now I’m finally back home and I’m going straight into editing mode. Wish me luck because I’m pretty sure I didn’t turn my camera off for the entire month. I have gigs and gigs of amazing footage to go through and even though it’s going to be a daunting task, I’m really excited to sort through all the footage and put the next few episodes of Get Sylvester together…
After the jump you can check out a little recap of Gumball via my Instagram photos. (follow me on instagram! @harrisonboyce)
Here is the Beats By Dre edit that we worked on in Barcelona (along with a few additional clips from NY and Cali). This was the reason we went out to Barc last month and if you missed it, the whole trip was documented in the first episode of Get Sylvester. I’ve been having a blast filming with Nigel and I’m really stoked on how this edit turned out!
The first episode of Nigel Sylvester’s new series ‘Get Sylvester’ just went live! I have been working with Nigel on this project for a bit and am super excited for everyone to get to check it out. This is just the first episode of 10 that we will be working on over the next few months and we have a lot of awesome stuff in the works.
To kick the series off, the first episode documents a trip we took to Barcelona to film an edit for Beats by Dre (that will be dropping on Thursday). Check out the first episode above, make sure to subscribe to the series on Nigel’s youtube page, and if you missed any of the teasers check out all three of them after the jump!
Super excited about this new project I’m working on with Nigel Sylvester. It’s a part of the new content that Youtube/Google have been working on with Network A. We have some great content planned and I can’t wait to start getting the episodes out. It’s not going to be a typical reality show, but more an on-going day in the life with Nigel. Super raw and curated.
This is the first teaser for the series with some random clips from our nights out in Barcelona last month. Big shout out to Fernando for showing us such a good time out in Barcelona! Keep an eye out for a few more teasers over the next week or so on Nigel’s YouTube channel.
This video of Nigel Sylvester for G Shock was posted a few weeks back and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since it went up. Definitely one of my favorite video with Nigel and for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, it’s definitely worth a watch.
Check out a great episode of Maestro Know’s with Nigel Sylvester. Mixing some New York footage from this past winter, with a bunch of new footage of Nigel in LA, this piece really sums up why Nigel is, and will always be, one of my favorite dudes.
By now I’m sure a lot of you have seen images of Nigel’s collab case that he put together with Animal, Gatorade, New Era, G-Shock, and Skullcandy. The project was built around the release of Nigel’s new seat with Animal. We were lucky enough to get one and just wanted to post some photos to share with everyone as well as give a huge congrats and thanks to Nigel!
The case comes with Nigel’s new seat, a New Era/Animal/Nigel hat, A G-Shock, a pair of Skullcandy ear buds, and the most impressive element of the project… a signature Gatorade bottle… The bottle was produced in a limited run of 500, so if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one I suggest you keep it on ice… and I don’t mean in the freezer…
Again, big thanks to Nigel and all the brands involved in this project and keep reading to check out more photos.
The first video of the Gatorade All Day Sessions with Nigel Sylvester just dropped this morning. The first video follows Nigel and Ralphy Ramos around Miami and South Beach from morning till night hitting spots and meeting with with Tyga in the studio. Check it out!
I don’t know how it happens but we always seem to do a bunch of posts on Nigel at the same time… This G Shock commercial dropped a few days ago and I’m super stoked on it. Nigel worked with photographer and filmmaker 13th Witness to put together a commercial for G Shock. This is definitely a quality edit that needs to be watched in 1080p full screen. Check it out!
