Defgrip on UP

Jeff Klugiewicz, Rob Diquattro, T.J. Henderson, Nick Wilbat, Anthony Loconte, Ryan Wayne and myself headed out on an excursion to loop Lake Michigan and scope out the Upper Peninsula while camping out along the way. We stopped in a few cities, rode some bikes, took a ferry over to Mackinac Island and laughed our asses off the entire four day trip. It was something I think we all needed as summer was winding down; a relaxing trip with a group of rad dudes.

Huge thanks to Poler for helping us out on the trip and props to Anthony Loconte for living with a camera strapped to his hand the entire time.

Jeff Icepick Mackinac

So, about a month ago, I put together a trip for some of us midwest guys: Jeff K, T.J. Henderson, Rob Diquattro, Ryan Wayne, Nick Wilbat, Anthony Loconte and myself to head out on a four day adventure to camp around Lake Michigan. We didn’t go into the trip thinking it would be 100% riding and I don’t think any of us wanted or needed that anyway.

Poler helped us get outfitted with some camping gear, as pretty much none of us were experienced campers and most of us had little to no camping experience. As with any trip nothing goes exactly as planned and time constraints didn’t’ allow us to get in everything we wanted and we definitely didn’t get to ride as much street as we would have liked, but that didn’t keep anyone down. We all had a blast and laughed the entire trip, especially from all of Rob’s antics and newly acquired front brake skills on a bike nearly half the size of his own.

Click below to scope out some snaps from the trip and be on the look out for a trip edit to drop later this week filmed by Anthony Loconte.

New Jeff K footage is always a treat. He is not afraid of his opposite side at all as you can see in a handful of clips throughout the edit.

Anthony Malvasio in "Chick’n Nugg’t"

Anthony's section in Jeff K's Chick'n Nugg't video is too good. High hops to cellar doors and everything in between can be found in here.

Jeff Klugiewicz’s last name might be difficult to spell, but he sure ain’t difficult to watch ride. Jeff recently built up a new Mankind and put it through its paces, as video evidence will prove.

Shout out to Jeff and Grant Castelluzzo for hooking us up with this.

People that have been riding since the early 2000’s and before remember Midwest BMX and the impact that it had on BMX as a whole. The videos that they produced would be put out directly to the Internet while everyone else was putting years of work into videos that were released on VHS and DVDs. One of the masterminds behind the Midwest BMX site was Jeff Klugiewicz. The transition from making web edits to an actual DVD seems to be backwards in this day and age but there is always a warm feeling when you get a physical copy of riding material.
