Original: Nike Pool

Back in May, Nuno and I headed out to England to shoot photos and film the Nike Pool jam. I had no idea what to expect when I was heading there, but the Nike Pool jam ended up being one of the best contest I have ever been to… not only from a riding standpoint, but also the vibe was amazing, everyone was having so much fun, the ramps were amazing, the free food, free beer… I could go on…

Aside from the whole weekend being so much fun, the building and the ramps were amazing for filming. Great colors, interesting architecture, the two floors with windows looking down at the ramps. I was a kid in a candy store. This edit is more of a reflection of the weekend. A montage of a bunch of random stuff. I missed some bangers, filmed lots of random stuff and had a really fun time putting it all together… Enjoy!

Photogallery: Nike-The POOL

As you may or may not know, the Nike POOL contest went down this weekend in England. The event was held at the soon-to-be demolished Dagenham Swimming Pool which Nike converted into an amazing wooden playground. It looked like quite the feat and I don’t recall hearing the riders say one bad thing about the course.

A lot of the world’s best riders were in the house and the level of riding was unreal. The riding was inspired, dialed, big, smooth and it was a treat watching people find all the lines. I don’t know what it was about this particular contest, but I feel it was THE best contest I’ve ever personally attended. There was a moment towards the end when I recall asking someone “what is going on at this contest?”. I’m sure a lot of people were thinking the same thing, it was just plain good bike riding on another level.

Furthermore, This POOL setup will be open to the public for 30 days after the contest for anyone to enjoy.

Assuming you’ve seen most of the riding and videos on Ride BMX and such, here is my take on the POOL comp as I lurked around for 3 day with my camera. Click below to check out some pics along with some random facts about the contest. Harrison will be handling video duties, so check back in a week or so for that.

Thanks to Nike for bringing Defgrip out and for putting on a successful event.

Autophoto: Joe Cox

Most of you are familiar with Joe Cox’s skill on a bicycle and video work, but he is also a talented photographer as well. He’s contributed numerous times to the magazines in one way or another over the years, so this shouldn’t really be that big of a revelation. Nonetheless, Joe does a good job of documenting the things around him as well as his friends and local scene.

A Day With Dan Boiski and Ben Green

Somehow I missed this edit and even though it’s just about a month old, I still think it deserves a post. Like the title says, this is an edit documenting a day with S&M’s Ben Green and United’s Dan Boiski, filmed by Robin Fenlon and what I’m assuming is a Canon 5D. The guys start out at Cantalowes in Camden then make their way down to Kings Cross and then onto Ladbroke Grove and then ultimately get shut down by the rain. Robin did a great job of documenting a real day of riding and while some people might not find this to their liking because it’s not 100% tricks, this could by one of my favorite edits of the year.

Chris Gray Design

Chris Gray is a designer from Manchester, England how works under the name We Shall See. He has some great design and photography projects on his site and I’m really into his simple illustration style.

Robbo and Matt Roe Lotek Edit

Another great trails edit from England. This time it’s featuring Robbo and Matt Roe and it’s in celebration of them being added to the Lotek UK team through Seventies! Growing up racing and riding trails, I can never get enough of trail riding edits and I think I can speak for the whole Defgrip crew, but If we could ride the trails from this video every day, we’d all be in heaven!
