PHOTOGALLERY: VINCE PERRAUD

Photographer Vince Perraud is no stranger to Defgrip. He has been featured on the site numerous times and has provided a bunch of great photo galleries over the years. Go HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE for a few things.

As of late, Vince’s photography is evolving and his subject matter and images are varied. Murphy Moschetta cited Vince as a favorite photographer in his Q&A above, saying – “Vince Perraud ( bikes or not, he finds the best light!)”. This triggered an idea in my head, so I approached Vince about contributing a gallery of non-BMX images using cool light as a general theme/vibe. And here we are.

Q&A – Vincent Perraud / Portfolio 2013

vincent perraud, defgrip

I always enjoy Vince Perraud’s photos, which is why I’m psyched to have received his newsprint 2013 portfolio that he put together (those are my feet up there). He’s covered Simple Session for us, provided an Autophoto plus more… He’s a regular around here.

Seeing as I was stoked to receive this piece of newsprinted awesomeness, I decided to ask him some questions about it. Click below for that interview.

We’ve written down 100 random questions and assorted topics, all of which are unbeknownst to our victims. We will be asking people to pick 20 random numbers from 1-100 and then supplying them with those questions/topics to answer. Who knows what might come up!?!?!

Up next is Vincent Perraud, one of my favorite photographers.

Photogallery: Simple Session By Vincent Perraud

simple session, defgrip, 2013, vincent perraud photo

For this years Simple Session, we were able to get our friend Vincent Perraud out there to cover the whole thing for us. We’re fans of Vince around here and I knew he would come back with great photos, which he did (and delivered in a super timely manner). I fucking love this gallery; it captures the atmosphere, the people, the scene and the riding perfectly. Dude even got into the rafters.

Cheers to Vincent, Risto and the Simple Session crew.

I am not sure why an Autophoto with Vincent Perraud didn’t happen sooner, but here we are finally.

BACKSTORY: TRAIL LINE NAMES

When it comes to trails, its pretty much a given that the lines and jumps you and your crew build will have to be named in one way or another. Needless to say, this makes for some rather interesting and unique names. Think “Dip Buzz”, “Sloth Hawk” and “Whammo” to name only a few.

With that said… I thought it would be interesting to dig deeper (no pun intended) and find out how some of these names came about.

We spoke to John Skvarla from Keyko Trails, Chris Janis from Catty Woods, Clint Reynolds from Eastside, Cody Diggs from Scituate, Jeremy Muller from La Source, Jay Lonergan from POSH, Anthony Napolitan from Wetlands and Mark Potoczny from Hazelwood to get the backstory on how some lines/jumps at their respective trails got their names. Click below.

*Please note – this is only a small portion of interesting names and respected trails out there.

Q&A: Will Smyth Discusses DIG’s New Direction

Dig site 2

DIG BMX as you have come to know it is changing. How? Well, after 21 years the actual print magazine has ceased to exist and all energy is being redirected online. This new direction may or may not come as a surprise these days, but it is surely a welcome change.

I have always been a huge fan of DIG and I’ve got my fingers crossed that they can continue doing what they do in digital form. With that said, there is a new site and new staff in place to tackle such changes. As always, I threw Will Smyth (DIG’s editor) some questions about it all. Continue reading and stay tuned to DIG BMX.
