Documentary: Carson Leh

Carson Leh has been making custom leather bicycle seats and cycling accessories for 4 years. He started in 2010 recovering torn BMX saddles and in 2013 he founded Leh Seats. He not only manufactures leather bike saddles and handlebar tape, but has recently branched out with new leather goods such as Macbook cases. He produces small production run leather goods for contract in the USA.

Filmer Brian Chace visited his Austin based workshop this winter to speak with him about his work and inspiration. This short film shows the process of one of his custom made BMX seats. Each BMX seat is guaranteed for life against tears.

This photo was shot during a camping trip my wife and I took to Morro Bay. I took this photo on our second morning there, the camp site was situated right by the coast and we were lucky enough to have some cooler weather after an already hot summer. The fog was rolling in throughout the early hours of the morning. We were up early as I had looked up a really good cement park that was near by that I wanted to ride. As usual it was locked up like fort knox and didn’t allow bikes so my only chance of riding it was to get up early and jump the fence before any of your typical small town folk spoiled my fun. In the end I didn’t get to ride the park because of a lingering patrol officer. On the positive side my early start allowed the opportunity to catch this image of the morning sun piercing through the fog.

Behind The Cover: Dirt Ron / Ride #199

As soon as I saw this Ride BMX cover and the unusual warped film action, I knew it had a story worth telling. Keith Mulligan came through with a very detailed “Behind The Cover” for us.

Miles Rogoish – Gap-to-wall.

This is one of those photos that plays tricks on your mind when you picture where Miles actually came from to get to the wall and how he pulled back into the wedge. I originally shot this as a composite so that I could have one photo of Miles on the quarter pipe on the left and one on the wall as you see here but it just didn’t have the right feel when I put it together. I ended up liking the shadow more than anything and decided to go with this single image instead. I also typically never light my photos with a single strobe but that’s exactly what I did here and it ended up working out. That just serves as a reminder to never get stuck using the same set-up over and over and to always keep your options open. Shout-out to the Stranger crew and Aaron Brenner for letting me shoot at the warehouse.

Photogallery: Orange Juice In Malaga

Roy Van Kempen and assorted Orange Juice affiliates traveled to Spain for some good times on the BMX. Click below to check out some pics and check back soon for the video.

After the big success of the Orange Juice x Vans Barcelona trip in 2013 we decided, together with Vans, to organize another trip in 2014.

For this trip, we decided to go to Malaga for 9 days with a group of riders from Belgium and Holland. The Belgium riders joining the trip were Kenzo de Witte, riding for Vans and Thijs Vervaeck who owns a BMX shop in Gent, Belgium called ‘The Bridge’. The Dutch riders consisted of Vans rider Mark Vos, Orange Juice supporter Jorn Tuijnman and Orange Juice co-owner Roy Van Kempen. Our film crew was made up of co-owner from Orange Juice Tom Lammerse and Daan van Citters. Last but not least, Syo van Vliet was there as a photographer.

Having 8 of your best friends on a trip is definitely the best. The overall vibes on the trip were amazing; we made dinner for eachother, had plenty of laughs, drank beers, gambled and shot some crazy clips. Words can’t explain how good this trip was but the pictures and video will definitely give you a taste of what the 2014 Malaga trip was like.
