Edwin in Vapors

“If I had to say sorry it would be because I… Took to long to pass the Dutch.” Check out a Q&A with Edwin DeLaRosa in the latest issue of Vapors. You can view the whole magazine online for free… Another good example of a magazine stepping up to survive in the current state of print media.

For some bonus BMX, check out artist Mark Ward’s seat from Wethepeople’s Seat Beat exhibit on page 107!

Check out Edwin here in issue 44.

CHRIS MARSHALL@RANDOM

dsc_0175def1sml.jpg

This picture was taken about a month after Ryan Hilegus was in a savage car crash. He ripped his face up pretty good, and had just gotten his stitches out. That didn’t stop him from whipping over this rail on the 2nd try. We hadn’t even ridden yet! He hopped the rail twice and then whipped it. We got the boot pretty quickly after that as Lehigh security is forever present.

National Magazine Cover Archive

magazine_archive.jpg

If you are into magazines as much as I am, you’ll definitely appreciate this site. The National Magazine Cover Archive has selected a hand full of some great magazines and started collecting images of their past covers. In what the site calls “dark days for magazine design with homogenisation and closure of many well known (and loved) titles” this site is a fresh look back into the glory days of editorial design. Some people say magazines are dead, but I think that’s not the case, the current state of the internet vs. magazines is just pushing out all the bad writing and lackluster photos. I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon, but I think the same will happen for websites. The over saturation of blogs and online magazines can only last for so long. it’s going to come to a point when the legit sites will be thriving and all the other half-ass copy and paste blogs will loose all their viewers. I guess when you think of it like that, it’s a completely different conversation because the money, time, and people power it takes to run a magazine is completely different to amount of money and time it takes to run a blog… In any case, we are living in an exciting time right now with the transitions that are going on and even though things are shifting more towards the internet, you should never forget about the quality and experience you get from sitting down and enjoying a well written, well design magazine.

Spike Jonze

spike_jonze.jpg

While I was wasting hours of my evening on the internet last night, I came across this “interview” with Spike Jonze with a pretty funny concept. The interviewer apparently has no idea how to use a camera, as well as being super nervous, and at one point mistakes Spike Lee with Spike Jonze. This was definitely scripted, but I had a good time watching it. One other thing that was a little funny about this, was the other day I was watching Fuel TV and they had a little skit with the same concept… The Fuel one was a bit cheesier, but a definite bite… Anyway, check out the Spike interview after the jump… There is a few bonus Spike related YouTube links as well… Enjoy!

JEREMY PAVIA@RANDOM

“This was from a recent road trip I went on with the Kink team from Vegas to Seattle to shoot photos for BmxPlus! magazine. Walter Pieringer was cool enough to drive his rig which he lives out of, film the trip for an upcoming issue of Props, and put up with all of us dirty bikers cramping up his space for ten days. There were a few problems with the rig but luckily for everyone on the trip, Sean Sexton is not only really good on a bike, but knows a lot about cars/trucks as well and wasn’t afraid to get a little greasy for the good of everyone.

Although being on the side of the road an hour after leaving on a road trip is never fun, everything worked out and we made it no problem.”

WU-TANG/TAKE IT BACK

newpicture034.jpg

The new WU album hits this December, so it’s no wonder that songs are making their way online. The following song entitled “Take it back”, has been circulating for a few days, but since I found it on a fancy Dante Ross/Riottt player, I figured I would post it up for your enjoyment and/or feedback. I think it sounds pretty good.

Im hoping 8 Diagrams is solid. Click below for player.
