Still to this day, black and white photography is my favorite to produce. It’s something about having the lack of color to make your mind wondering towards another direction. The importance of color is then replaced with the reliability on contrast. The darks, the lights and the grays can mesh together in what seems to be a seamless fashion, or can be turned around and portrayed harshly. By processing film myself and creating and image from a blank sheet of paper, then I truly feel I have created a photograph.
George Kastrinakis recently opened up a sneaker spot in NYC, called Front street. He’s been doing his online store Cantstopthekicks for 2 years, and has now made the jump into an actual retail store.
Front Street is primarily a sneaker spot, but there will also be a selection of Animal product, Skavenger tee’s and Lotek stuff available. Support that!
The Coalition / Hell On Earth crew sent over pics of their new shirts.
They’ve been doing all of their printing in-house lately, which has allowed them to experiment alot with print techniques, and using discharge and water based inks on everything. Click below for pics.
Stephen Savage out of South Africa has been in the US visiting, riding and chilling. Chad Shack has taken him under his wing, so you can bet on seeing more of Savage in the future.
Click below for a quick Q&A with Stephen.

I first came across Wisconsin-born Jason Munns work through a short article in Creative Review a couple of years back. The Small Stakes started through his love of contemporary music and design and now encompasses Posters, Album art and T shirts.

Non-Format in my opinion is one of the strongest contemporary design firms around today.
They’ve been getting a lot of coverage lately and chances are you’ve seen their work without even knowing it. Check them out and buy their new book, Love Song for your coffee table or archive of ‘people to steal from‘.
I know I will =p.
