Pointer Footwear…

After a largely unsuccessful attempt at this post a couple of weeks ago here I am trying again. I share an office with Gareth and Rose (the two people behind Pointer) and though it’s unforgivable that I’ve not got my shit together to interview either of them their SS07 line is out and worth a look. Gareths background is in skateboarding but following a stint at Slam City Skates and the legendary Silas he resisted the temptation to churn out another skate shoe company. Pointer has come a long way in a short time producing classic shoe designs which are backed by original artwork from Marcus Oakley, French, Jethro Haynes and others. They’re a bit different but for me that’s a good thing…

Carhartt Spring 07

Carhartt Europe has their Spring 07 line up on their site. Every season, they get stronger and stronger. A great mix of classic clothing and simple design.

V Club online video

The boys over at V Club have posted a new online video. I usually leave the web videos alone, not because I don’t like them, just because, it’s more of The Come Up’s thing. Although I was directed to the V Club video through The Come Up, this one was to good to pass up. I’ve been real psyched on the V Club and their crew for a bit and I cant wait to see more from them.

MacNeil Edit Battle

We have an edit battle going on over on the MacNeil site. Check it out.

“While we were on our trip to Greenville, N.C. Ali and Andrew came up with this idea that they would each take all the footage, pick their own songs and each do their own edit. Well… The trip is done, the footage has been captured, and the edits have been cut, now it’s your chance to decide who is the winner. The professional filmer/editor who rides bikes for fun, or the professional bike rider who edits on iMovie for fun? Check out the videos and put your vote in. The person who has the most comments on their video by the end of the week is crowned the winner. GET YOUR VOTE ON!!!
(You must comment here, on the MacNeil site, not on the youtube page)”

Bicycle Film Festival 2007

The 2007 Bicycle Film Festival is coming up soon and the deadline for entries has been extended till March 1st. I know there has been a lot of great BMX content created over the past year, so you should get your edits together and submit!

“The Bicycle Film Festival celebrates the bicycle. We are into all styles of bikes and biking. If you can name it-Tall Bike Jousting, Track Bikes, BMX, Alleycats, Critical Mass, Bike Polo, Cycling to Recumbents- we’ve probably either ridden or screened it. What better way to celebrate these lifestyles than through art, film, music and performance? We bring together all aspects of bicycling together to advocate its ability to transport us in many ways. Ultimately the Fest is about having a good time.”

Winner!!!

Out of hundreds of emails we finally got our winner! Here we go!!! The very first Lotek ad was in Ride UK issue 74 February 2004 and Mike Netley was the first one to get it to us. If you didn’t win this time, don’t worry, this won’t be the last contest we do at Defgrip. Plenty more to come.

Thanks so much to everyone who sent ads in… Sorry we didn’t have shoes for everyone!
