So by now I assume you’ve heard that DIRT will no longer be in the X-Games. This came as a surprise to me for sure. Call me crazy, but I assumed that Park/Street and Dirt were the most popular events to watch in the BMX side of things. I don’t really know the reasoning for ditching Dirt (probably bad ratings), but It’s sort of a let down. Partly because it was my favorite thing to watch, but also because it can’t be a sign of good things to come. They may kill Vert next year, who knows. And I’m also confused after the press release.
It states:
“After 12 successful years as an X Games event, BMX Dirt will not be in this year’s lineup”.
If it was successful, surely they wouldn’t cancel it. Who knows.
Let me know what you guys think in the comments.

Check out our latest Autophoto with Ride BMX’s newest photographer. It’s pretty funny because Nuno hit Keith up about submitting a photo to the Random Wednesday post with in days of me hitting him up about an Autophoto and Nuno and I hadn’t talked about him at all… I guess his photos were making an impression.
Check out Keith Romanowski’s Autophoto here.

Juse came through with these photos of an article Big Brother did back in ‘98 or ‘99. I remember the article but I don’t have the issue, so if your eyes are really good you can get the gist of it by clicking the below photos. It’s pretty witty, and basically states that BMXers are insane, and that two of the minds behind Big Brother were former BMXers, which explains the insanity of Big Brother magazine.
Images of skaters are:
Sal Barbier - Pose
Adam McNatt - 360 flyout
Skip Pronier - Stylin’
Brian Patch - Table
Ron Bertino on Jeff tremaine’s bike
Jason Dill / Dead Sailor
Also pictured are Mike Frazier and Robbie Morales in the news section with the caption: “This picture of Mike Frazier and Robbie Morales is a good example of the cliche ‘killing two birds with one stone’, but in this case it’s more like killing one bird and one pachyderm.”
Another funny comment in that issue: “Robbie Morales now pedals around on Standard Bikes to burn off his excessive calorie intake.” Click the below image to see it slightly bigger.

There was a recent preview for the upcoming Vans Syndicate line in L.A. Paul Mittleman, the creative director for Stussy, had some photos up on his blog at Honeyee and from the looks of things, one of the themes in the fourth series of the Syndicate line will be Rad! the movie. There is some history behind this shoe. Back, way before all these collaborations, and co-branded shoes, Vans had a “Rad” shoe. I don’t really know to much about the shoe other that it was DOPE and that Shad randomly came up on a brand new pair through a friends mom or something random like that. There isn’t really any good photos of the shoes, but if I come across anything, I’ll post them up.

A short post to celebrate Bicycle Union’s new website. In the words of Dye himself, taken from his interview in Ride U.K. Issue 100:
What annoys you about BMX now?
“The same thing that annoys me about life in general, greed and self important pricks who think they know better than everyone else, people who go on and on about what BMX has given them and self-righteous people who gripe about what they’ve done for BMX, f__k off…”
For me, there are very few legendary companies (in BMX or streetwear) Bicycle Union is definitely one… If you’re in any doubt, find a copy of Nails in the Coffin and rattle the cups.

Jim Bauer was never one to leave shit looking “stock”, be it his bikes, wardrobe or cars, so it was only natural for something like the Lavar/JBA project to come about.

Big thanks out to the Lotek crew for hooking up a nice package! You can never have enough Lotek’s. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at some upcoming kicks… and, boy are you going to be blown away! Keep your eyes pealed, cus they are dope!

Sick of hearing the term “Limited Edition” being thrown around so loosely, we wanted to offer something that lives up to the title. We asked our good friend Jim Bauer to create something unique for Lavar with his own hands. Jim exceeded our expectations by personally creating and customizing his own line of 50 tees, which are finally on sale in the Lavar online store this morning.
Over the last six months, Jim designed the Lavar print and then treated each shirt with a combination of dye, bleach, LA sunlight, paint, needle and thread, and whatever else he could think of. He put a great deal of time and effort into each shirt, which is why there are only 50 shirts, each dated and numbered by Jim. We named this series the JBA, for Jim Bauer Affected.
