Brave Soldier

This is a company run by some friends of mine whom I was introduced to by my boy Robert Granada. They started making road-rash healing products, running the business from an office above a bike shop in West Hollywood, and selling it at upscale shops like Fred Segal and such. Then they teamed up with a doctor and became a full on cosmetics company.

If you can stomach it, check out their disgusting road rash gallery, or just skip to my favorite product, the healing ointment… this stuff heals you up quick and definitely saved a few layers of Corey Bohan’s skin when we were in Australia last year.

Ok to the point: It’s December 20 and you’ve got two business days left until Christmas. My advice is to keep it simple and grab one of these for every dude on your list. Tight packaging, done deal.

Coolio

I get these emails from Dim Mak record label some how. I never singed up for em, but I keep them coming because they are fairly entertaining. Its usually some party info, recored label stuff, and a bunch of photos from the LA party scene… It’s a good way to look at Cobra Snake photos with out going to his site… So anyway. I got this email yesterday, I’m scrolling through the photos and what do I see?? An amazing photo of the one and only Coolio… I mean, would you ever picture Coolio like this?? Wheaties hat, thrift store button up, and that almost looks like he has a pen in his pocket… Priceless!! If you cant take the heat, get your ass out the kitchen…

Take it back with Coolio right here.

Whatyalookinat.?

A while back I posted a link to a forthcoming DVD coming out of Liverpool, I’d stumbled across the preview on Streetphire and was eagerly waiting the release of the full DVD. There was a premier at Rampworks a couple of weeks back and I got a copy this morning, from the cover of the DVD to the, internationally unknown, riders it’s a treat. Another U.K. city blows up…

Matt Lambert, the editor and producer of the DVD, was good enough to answer a few questions:

1. So what’s the deal with What ya Looking At, and why did you decide to make it?
I’ve always been making little edits of sessions or trips I’ve been on, then I got hold of a three trip camera and decided I wanted to make a video of the riders from these ends.

2. When did you start filming for it?
Beginning of Summer 2006 apart from a few clips.

3. How’s the scene in Liverpool at the moment? Ben Lewis has been raising eyebrows for a while but I know Loz and Formby Jay might be new to people outside of the North West, any other riders on the come up?

Addy Snowdon. He’s always throwing good stuff down on a daily basis and loves the grind! Larry T is always pushing it, Jason can ride anything and Formby Jay is the most consistent rider I’ve ever filmed! The Liverpool scene is pretty big at the moment and consists of riders from all over Merseyside.

4. What filmers/editors do you look up to?
Chad Shackleford, Rich Hirsch and Joe Cox seem to be putting out the best DVD’s rite now as far as filming and editing go.

5. Favourite BMX DVD’s?
Most Shook dvds
Facad
Voices
Animal All Day

6. Influences outside BMX?
Music, Girlfriend, Flash, Drink, Filming, Chills.

7. What’s the deal with distribution, how can we get hold of a copy?
Well at the moment you can get it from Alans webstore and Rampworx skatepark (Someone else get on this, it’s too good to have such limited distribution)

8. Thanks and shout outs…
Thanks to Addy, Owen, Jason, Jay, Loz, Ben and everyone who made the vid possible, shout outs to the Southbank Locals Timeel and all them, the Wrexham lot, Ste Stu’s household Theo an that, the HSL, STL and everyone who loves the street…

*RANT ALERT*

Well, I went ahead and put down some thoughts and opinions for you all to read. This is the first “opinion piece” type of thing that I have written for Defgrip, so I hope you enjoy it, agree or disagree with it, get enraged by it, think that I’m talking shit on you personally, whatever. It’s just some thoughts people.
