Interbike 06

I just got back from interbike. The trip was as good as it could get. Vegas sucks, but its rad to get to see all your friends. Check out a bunch of photos here >>

Most of the DEFGRIP crew were in Vegas for Interbike, which would explain the lack of updates. Don’t fear, we will have some photos up soon.
In the meantime, check out RIDE BMX for NORA CUP results/product photos and various stuff to read.
You might remember Tony Barnes from Part 1 of Meet Mike’s Peeps, and now he’s back with 5 more links to brighten up your day. He scours the internet so you don’t have to. A perfect mix of style and humor coming right up:
Link 1
A book about Karrie Jacobs’ mission to find the perfect $100,000 house.
Link 2
The new addition to the Stones Throw family; a collab commisioned for Adult Swim/Cartoon Network with a coinciding tour.
Link 3
A similar type of deal; free promo from Adult Swim.
Link 4
This makes me both love and hate the internet. Crazy.

Mike A. told me about this one a long time ago and it’s still amazing. This site gives tickets to visually offensive cars, usually Japanese. The tickets state the reasons for citation along with the web address to the site, so the owner can give a rebuttal, which usually makes him/her look even more stupid. The hate mail rules.

How do you define a good magazine? Content, photos, design? For me it rotates between all three. One magazine that I don’t necessarily always pick up, but am always excited to check out, is “Intersection.” An auto magazine with great taste. This magazine kills it in all three categories from great photos, where it’s no specifically about the car, but more about the lifestyle, to incredible content. My favorite part of the magazine is the “Garage” section, where they review cars. They have this little Do and Don’t list at the end of each review and for what ever reason, this little section has made me open the magazine so many different times. Aside from the content and photos, this magazine is very well designed.
The current issue has a feature on fixed gear bikes and a great article on Mad Max custom cars. Definitely check this out next time you are at the news stand…. Oh, and if you get the new Lamborghini, Murcielago, “Don’t let people use the massive new exhaust as a trash can.”

After much debate throughout the week we have decided to say goodbye to the “anonymous” comment feature. We really want this site to be a place that people can come by, check out, and discuss cool shit. Theres been a little to much of the all to familiar “anonymous” negative comments lately. So with that said we got a lot of cool shit planned for October so sign up for a blogger account if you havn’t yet (it only takes a few minutes) and keep checking the site.
I Have Pop is back with a dope new art project for Nike’s Festival of Air in London. Check this impressive concrete sculpture created in trubute to the Air Max 90, in the entry titled “The Streets We Walk” on the I Have Pop website.
My favorite brand out of England, One True Saxon, have just added their latest gear to their website and have discounted all of the previous gear by 50%. Their line is pure class and can be had at bargain prices right now. I’m feeling the jackets and sweaters, most of the denim and some of the dressier shoes but, as with a lot of brands like this, their tees are way up there as well.
Their site is dope too. Check it out right here and make sure to check the “Downloads” section for some cool desktop images painted by Ewan Brown.
