Seth Holton, Unnatural Landscapes

More art shows! For some of Seth’s photos, check out the Autophoto he did with us a while back.

Back by popular demand, the CFB - BMX Riders’ Art Show will take
place from 7 pm to Midnight, Saturday, June 3 in Oklahoma City. The
location is 1100 N. Broadway.

The call for entries is now open and the deadline to receive artwork
is Friday, May 26.

Guidelines for the show are:

1. You must be loosely connected to the BMX world in some way. We’ll
leave this up to your own discretion, but please do not send art if
you rode for two months in 1988 are are looking to establish street
cred in the BMX world.
2. All media will be accepted - photos, painting, sculptures, graphic
design, web sites, zines, poetry, music, short film, etc. Note: Due
to some features we may have, our ability to show short film will be
limited. As well, please do not send art that could be construed as
offensive to anyone. We’re not looking to start any political battles
here.
3. Please limit your entries to no more than 8.
4. Send short bio on yourself, including where you are from and how
long you’ve been riding; a description of your artwork and a
photograph of your work.
5. If you want to sell the piece, please provide the price. If you
do not want to sell it, please tell us and we will mark it Not For Sale.

ON THE PLUS SIDE…

Ive been meaning to touch on Vans Vault and Etnies Plus for a bit. I would venture to say that most riders would not be familiar with both of these companies “high end” lines, since they keep them seperated. Now you are.

Vans

I’ve been feeling Vans lately. I usually go for Nikes but every time I think new shoes, Vans pop up in my head. I know I’m real slow on this and everyone has been rockin Vans for ever, but they have been dropping some hot shoes recently. I haven’t spent the time to check out their sites, but the vans vault and the syndicate sites are dope.

Dig Issue #52

Dig just dropped a preview of their up and coming issue. Issue 52 looks like a good one. They have “good stuff” with Jimmy Levan, Seth Holton, Rooftop, Brothers, T1, Etnies, NY, Eben Fischer, Odyssey, Ardelean, Mike Birch and much more. Check it out

Rip and Chauncey

I was talking to my brother Jason (AKA the most devout Detroit Pistons fan of all time–I actually think he cries when they lose. Fortunately for him that doesn’t happen very often) in Michigan yesterday and he insisted that I post a tribute to the greatest duo in basketball–Rip and Chauncey. Our favorite quality of theirs is the very discreet and understated manner in which they handle their business on the court. REAL DETROIT WEEKLY uses the words “Quietly and Efficiently”. Detroit style.
