It’s hard to believe, but three years ago yesterday, I made the first post on Defgrip! We have had an amazing time running this site, we’ve meet some incredible people, and we can’t wait to keep going! It’s crazy to think about where I was three years ago and how many people I’ve become really good friends with just because of this site. It’s also crazy how easy it is to forget about all the content we’ve produced for the site and how much of it has just got lost in the archives. I’ve been having a blast going back and checking out some of the old stuff and it’s definitely got me inspired to do work on new projects! I compiled a list of some of my favorite features we’ve had on the site over the past few years and I’d be psyched if you guys want to share your favorites in the comments. I’m also going to work on some “best of” lists for the regular posts… If I haven’t said it enough already, I’ve had an amazing time running the site and I really want to give a huge thanks to everyone for all their support, especially everyone who has contributed and most of all, to the guys who help post on a regular basis… Nuno, Mike, Rich, Chad, James, Andrew, Josh, you’re the best and the site wouldn’t be what it is with out you.

We don’t really ever post news like this here, but I was taken back when I read THIS, especially considering that Corey Martinez is one of the best bike riders ever.
You never know what happens in these situations, and I don’t have any juicy info, but it sounds like Corey got hit with this out of nowhere and with little reason. Hopefully everything is cool with both parties.

**update** This thread on TCU has some info from Nate about the split.

So it seems like we have one epic outage a year. This year the site was down due to a serious bandwith overage. Those Garrett and Ian videos that were posted last month got so many views that we were shut down. I was in France when it happened, so I had no idea what was going on, hence why it took so long to get things sorted and the site back up.
Nuno, Chad and I are down in Guadalajara, Mexico for Red Bull Elevation and we are having and amazing time. We’ll have some photos to post soon, so we hope everyone is good and sorry about the down time!

If you haven’t heard by now, FBM had to bounce out of their old building since the one they were attached to was being condemned.
They have been moving everything over to 1 Helen Drive and should be in full working order soon.
Keep posted on the FBM site.

The Insight premiere will go down at Red Bull HQ’s on March 12th in Santa Monica, Ca. This is one of those super anticipated videos, so be there if you can.

This is a little late but I figured I’d clear the air regarding the MOSH situation with a quick rundown… Contrary to what I thought when I left my desk job at Giant/MOSH, three weeks later I was relieved of my duties as team rider for both brands. Since then Jesse Whaley, Eddie Cleveland and Chase DeHart peaced out, with Ian Schwartz and Jackson Ratima soon following. We all know where Chase went, and Eddie and Ian are chillin for the moment.
Wolf Man has bounced from his Giant flow gig as well, and is making a move to… oh wait I can’t say yet. Stay tuned to Defgrip to see where the Wolf has landed.
Thanks to MOSH for 8 fun years.
Edit: Jesse is back on. Albert Mercado has left and will be riding for Odyssey flow along with the Give D crew.

After passing the Photo of the Day to Chad Shack, Rich still wanted a place to post all his random shit and since Rich is always in his own world, we thought it would be dope to put a blog page together just for him. You’ll be able to check out everything from random photos to stupid web videos to Lotek previews. So check out Rich’s blog and make sure to grab the rss feed or save his blog in your bookmarks cus you know there is going to be some good stuff in there.
Check out Rich’s blog here.

The Give D crew has some bad news regarding the web edits they’ve been working on for Defgrip. Alex put together some text to let everyone know what happened. Check it out after the jump.
EDIT- Hit up the D space to donate some funds if you wish. The boys need new equipment to keep the web edits coming.

If you are in NYC (or nearby) next week, my boy Superfly from Long Island is having a premiere for his video “Live For Today”. Click below for flyer and a breakdown of the video.
100% of the DVD sales at the premiere will be split between the Stephen Murray Fund and the Jimmy Levan fund.
Speaking of which, there’s a copy signed by Jimmy Levan up for bids on Ebay now.

Hey Y’all,
Just a quick update on Jimmy’s progress and his fund raising so far since his accident. The good new is that Jimmy has been progressing pretty well since he came out of his coma last week, and sounds better each time I talk to him on the phone. He has been transferred from the ICU at Morristown Memorial Hospital to the JFK Brain Rehabilitation Institute and is up, shuffling around and piecing his memory back together. It’ll be a long road to recovery, but we are lucky that he is in the best rehab center for his injuries and has great friends behind him.
The bad news is that Jimmy’s insurance WILL NOT cover his rehab program which he just checked into. The estimated total of the rehab bills is estimated at $70,000 at least, and that’s coming out of his family’s pocket.
As you know, EmpireBMX is matching donations to the Jimmy fund and now Odyssey is matching what Empire matches, so we are talking tripling whatever you donate!
The Empire fund match ends at the end of the business day on Friday so if you haven’t donated to the fund already, now would be the time to do it!
If any of you have websites or blogs, feel free to post any of this information and photos to help Jimmy out, we have to give this total a shot!
Here’s the link to EmpireBMX to donate
Thanks a million to all the people who have been visiting Jimmy and helping out with donations and fund raising.
