Honda Vs. Ferrari

Someone just sent me this link to a Honda commercial that is very similar to the Ferrari one I posted on last week. The Ferrari commercial focuses on their race cars, while the Honda spot exposes you to all the motosports they are involved in. I wasn’t going to post on this, but then I though it might be interesting to see what you guys though of each commercial. The Ferrari spot focuses on the filming and has a more of a serious concept, while the Honda one is more on the humorous side, but still, the humor doesn’t take away from the quality.
Check out the Honda commercial here.
And if you missed it, check out the Ferrari commercial here (Shell Circuit).
Let me know what you think in the comments.

I think Honda wins, I mean they’re both pretty masterbatorial.
Which came first? Honda?
The only similarity is a short part in the Honda commercial where the older race car turns into the formula 1 car. The visuals in that section as well as in the Shell commercial are fairly common. I don’t think besides that you can compare the two on anything than personal preference.
They’re both nicely made films, but my vote would be for the Shell commercial as I thought the Honda commercial was boring and lame. Atleast the Shell commercial made me want to drop the transmision or blow out the engine of my next rental car.
???? no similarities whatsoever. I personally like the Ferrari one.
I like the concept of the Ferrari/Shell function. I think it has a more timeless approach. Although, Honda makes me laugh. Laughing is fun. Agreed, both are similar.
But if I had to watch one on repeat? It’d be the Ferrari/Shell version.
ferrari wins, the transitions are way better the first time you watch it you miss the transitions because of the natural evolution of the cars designs. plus it makes you want to go fast. and “i wanna go fast!”
You’ve all almost made me want to re-visit the Ferrari spot, but then I remembered that it’s a car ad.
The Ferrari one is nice due to the excellent engine noises and is basically a homage to the 1970s film Rendez-vous where an F1 driver speeds around the streets of Paris in a V12 Ferrari. Excellent film.
Yup, here’s the link for that…

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.
No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.
The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.
That rendez vous video doesn’t make sense. Maybe it’s because I’ve been in LA too often and have taken in the habit of discussing shortcuts and directions, but he could’ve been there so much faster if he had taken Boulevard des Batignolles in stead of the Champs-Elysees. Would’ve saved him atleast two minutes.
the ferrari/shell had way better transitions over all. and definitely had that feeling of wanting to go balls out after watching it.
the transition from the F1 to the boat in the Honda was great though.
I don’t like honda, for no good reason I just don’t like them. So the Ferrari/Shell one is better. I’ll drive a Ford F-150 and waste gas.
Wow, Aarron, thanks for that.
