CARDBOARD BIKE

A student from Sheffield has designed a cardboard bike to help reduce bike theft in the UK, while being inexpensive and “eco-friendly”. I don’t know how practical it is, but it looks pretty awesome, and I’m sure it was quite a deal to conquer.
On the other hand, I guess this is also the only way you can get your bike burned down.

Hmm. Interesting concept… but apparently it can’t be ridden in its current form. Still the way they pronounce papier mache in the BBC clip is keepin’ it real, so it’s all good.
Seems like the bamboo bikes still have the most potential for the renewable resource bikes. Maybe some day they will have one that is dialed but combines practicality AND affordability. For instance the Calfee Design (google it) bamboo frames are sweet… but with the versions shown on their web site at over $2k for the frame alone, suffice to say it will not revolutionize 3rd world transportation. It seems the goal is ultimately to make it economically viable, so… let’s see. Bamboo is a good way.
getting your bike stolen sucks no matter how much it cost.
This isn’t the first cardboard bike design I’ve seen. Though, I do think a flatpack bicycle would be a good option to make cycling an affordable alternative to cars.
id so break that jumpin down a sick set and then id use it to sleep on under an over pass.
