Taco Trucks Under Fire
This Thursday May 15th, Los Angeles will pass a law making it illegal for taco trucks to stay in one place for more than an hour. Failure to comply will result in fines up to $1,000 and possible jail time, despite the fact than most taco trucks have designated curb spots which their customers are familiar with, and some of them even pay rent for those spots.
If you live in LA you already know the importance of the taco truck, so go here and here to read the stories (above photo borrowed from the LA Times website - thanks) and then go to this website and sign the petition.
Maybe if Los Angeles lawmakers made it illegal to, let’s say, drive 55mph in the passing lane on the freeway, they could unclog traffic and actually help fix one of LA’s many problems…… As far as I can tell, the ability to enjoy delicious Mexican food at your convenience for dirt cheap prices is not one of them.

WORD UP. signed that shit last week. get on it.
bullshit.
mother fuckers, the man is just after a backhander.
i heard buying a mobile catering business is the fastest way to becoming a millionaire
Thats complete bullshit! Tacos rule! Theres this dude that sells tamilies outta his truck by my house, hes been doin it for 20 years, that has nothing to do with this story, but still. Mexican food is fucking awesome!
what does this have to do with anything, especially bmx? i don’t understand the content on this site sometimes. who cares…go to dell taco!!!
this isn’t strictly a bmx blog johnny…stick to absinthe and red wine instead of not knowing jack about what site you’re on.
damn
i wish there was taco trucks in michigan
this is a money maker…
LA needs roach coaches, signing that petition right the fuck now.
Also, funny that Mike would post this, he’s an LA resident but he doesn’t session junk food, deep fried treats or anything remotely bad for the human body. Questionable?
Dude, last time I saw you I was eating a bean & rice burrito from the taco truck outside the Odyssey premiere. True that stuff can be disgusting, but I keep it clean and stay away from the carne asada. I’m just sayin.
And tamale guys (and ladies) are my favorite. I ate four tamales today as a matter of fact.
Mmmm, Tamales. Signed yo!
^ thats my local truck in echo park. im fighting for that shit.
thats my truck too.. i love their “vegetarian” burrito.. i saw taco zone was in the ralphs parking lot instead of on alvarado the other night.. was that because of this?
Uhm, on-line petitions are generally seen as a joke. They’re easy to forge and I could just as easily sign it and I live in Georgia.
A better course of action would be if each Taco truck got its customers to sign a physical petition (even better if it has addresses and/or phone numbers attached to it). Actual signatures are taken MUCH more seriously.
No way! That wasn’t a burrito… That was a vegetable wrap with a tasty blueberry glaze on it from the health food store across the street… You need a deep fried treat, carne asada wrapped in bacon deep fried with hot sauce on it. Lets do that. Moral of the story is Roach coaches are what’s up
Raul took me to that same la Estrella when I just super faded, chilling with him one weekend. Taco Trucks are shady some times though. I trust it only when I have “bad judgement” haha!
Oh man…La Estrella. Any non-Angelinos that might be visiting LA should check that place out for sure. I think they’ve got like 2 trucks and several actual restaurants now…I’ve been to most, if not all of them and they’re all awesome. Their hot sauce is the best tasting hot sauce I’ve ever had in my life. Fucking outright amazing. It’s hot, but not so hot that it doesn’t have a flavor. Seriously…amazing tacos. Any extra becomes a highly-valued garnish in my house. Order in spanish at the restaurant in Pasadena and you’ll get more hot sauce. Also, go next door to the party rental place and rent a few balloons for a good time.
I know in Australia a vehicle only has to move 6 inches to classify as “being moved”. Hopefully there is a similar loophole and the taco trucks only have to back up 6 inches each hour. Annoying, but yes.
