LOTEK SF
Check out this rad new promo for the Lotek SF video, which should be out by Interbike. Sweet job Marco.
*sarcasm alert* Caution: slightly on the artsy tip. Don’t be mad.
Hit up the Lotek vimeo page for more vids each month.

riding in san fran must take some getting used to, fast speeds & hills everywhere
The HD version is on our vimeo page.
Good feel.
I like it a lot. There is nothing wrong with artsy at all.
Rich, what camera did you shoot it with?
Kyle, you’re right. Im into it.
lovin the trailer.
it sucks you have to put a disclaimer on anything with a laid back artistic feel.
Hey this isn’t ‘the come up.’ You dont need to put a disclaimer on anything!
looks good, right music, showing the best things about BMX, just cruising around doing hops and tucks.
SF is where its at.
love this little edit.
yeah man, really psyched on this.
I was being sarcastic dudes. The promo is dope.
Really like it!
Thanks dudes… Where just trying to keep doing different stuff and show bike riding in a fun way. Marco filmed it with a Panasonic HVX2000.
Shred Art…
That’s so good, bombing some of the hills of SF with no brakes is crazier than doing tricks any day.
Damn I want to go back to SF now.
marco, really enjoy recent stuff you’ve been doing (mosh, summer of fit, lotek web videos and whatnot) because of the chill vibe, nice, warm, summer days, whatnot (i guess that’s the color temperature and the more vibrant present, but hey ..). some of the pans where a little off this time, maybe you’re getting used to working with a tripod, dunno. all’nd’all, again, i really like your compositions, always having that feel for the city, good balance, etc. compliments for music choices as well; was recently re-watching the big lebowski and finally remembered where i’d heard ‘that’ song from (summer of fit).
glad your feeling the recent stuff. i appreciate your feedback. i carry a small tripod for when i film downtown. i carry all my gear and cannot lug anythign too big as we ride to all the spots. anyways, the new camera is larger than my old dvx and the pans are not as nice. i might get a heavier tripod… but then i have to carry it.. that video has two pans, and 3 tilts, and a really ugly zoom. the zoom was supposed to be kinda jarring. i jacked that shot style from wes anderson and just wanted to see if i could do it. that shot was actually really hard to get, i was on the roof of a 8 story building and i had to signal the guys down below when to go, then i had to pan, then tilt, then pull the zoom. i will get an assistant if i do that again. haha
there is a really nice shot like that in ‘the graduate’ when benjamin (hoffman) goes to visit elaine in her college (you are going to film school anyway as i understand it), zooming in on him, sitting by some fountain or something (dont quite remember) - that simon/garfunkel vibe, with what we’re used to be refering to as “quirky” characters, i think, was quite the inspiration for wes. ontopic: i’d still prefer just a constant zoom at the highest speed rather than turning the wheel (maybe its my sloppy hands that keep me from doing that). dunno about the tilt/pan combo - maybe just a diagonal axis .. but then again it does go pretty well with the musical tempo .. anyway .. about the tripod, i know what you mean - i have a bogen/manfrotto with the 503 head and there is no chance of me riding around all day carrying that (+ my xha1 is lighter than the hvx200). anyways, sorry about the run-on-forever sentences, offtopics. again, i really enjoy your edits, and am looking forward to the dvd.
i have a bogen 501 that i lug around. some days, we seriously ride like 12-16 miles and i carry all that crap on my back. thank god for the waist strap on my backpack.
im actually not editing the dvd. i am just shooting it. rich hirsch will be editing it. on the lotek site, you can see the kurtis elwell web video and the jackson ratima one for an idea about how we work together.
we didnt intend for people to see it as ‘the trailer’ for the dvd. we kinda just saw it as a little web joint of riding in the city. like i said, we fucked around, shot it in a few hours and edited it in like 25 minutes. we basically shot those clips and roughly edited them in the order they were shot.
btw, the fluid head of the 503 is really helpful in adding constant negative pressure when panning/tilting and in that way reducing the parkinson effect of the flickering hand (um, no puns or harm intended; the 501 has that push-then-suddenly-stop-then-start-again thing going). but then again, it’s easy reciting online reviews in being a smartass (and criticizing someone else’s work for that matter). just one last thing: that last clip in the jackson video was shot with a different camera, and … well ..
looks great, i remember reading about this before… oh yeah here’s the link: http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/2008/03/23/91-san-francisco/
the last clip in teh jackson web video? the whole video was shot with a dvx, EXCEPT the last clip, which was shot with an HVX200 in SD with bunked up scene files. you have a good eye for detail.
Riding 16 miles with the HVX200 on your back is the definition of tufff. That’s right, 3 f’s. Seriously though, as I said before, I really like the trailer/teaser/whatever you want to call it. I’m excited to see the whole thing. On a side note, have you guys seen the Blueprint Skateboards video Lost and Found? It’s my favorite skate video hands down, and has a chill vibe similar to the recent Lotek stuff. Here is the link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2610435999222547676
that’s awsome i’m glad that bmx film is stepping up the standard, and not just focusing on blurry enders with people screaming. what song was that by the way ?
Bombing hills brakeless in SF?
GNAR GNAR BINKS.
I felt obliged to watch Chris Senn’s part from Jump Off A Building after seeing that.
Radabonzical, dudes!
What was the song? I really liked it.
bmx fun?? really nice i liked that
oh but why oh why oh why did you feel the need to steal music from Blank Paper Studio?? Are people seriously expected not to have seen In Short already? Come on, you really need to level your music game with the rest of your otherwise relatively innovative production. Get digging.
Great aside from that tho!
peas!
never seen blank paper studio. i stole the song from air, the people who wrote and composed it. doi.
