ESTONIA
So as some of you may or may not know, Harrison and I were in Estonia for the Simpel Session.
Everyone I have spoken to leading up to the trip has mentioned that Simpel Session/Estonia is awesome, and I would have to agree after being there. Everyone was situated at a hotel in Tallinn, which was more or less in the middle of the city. Plenty of stuff within walking distance, and not to mention that you were guaranteed to bump into somebody when you were out and about.
In fact, that spot you see behind the trolly, was “Pascha”, the lovely pizza place we ate at for 3 nights in a row (maybe more) since everything else would be closed by the time we all got back from the arena where Simpel was held. It wasn’t that bad, but too much of anything is never good. One night Jerry badders and Scotty Cranmer ordered a pizza with pepperoni, and got a pizza with pepperoncini’s. That was pretty funny. We ran into some pretty salty waitresses, and one place told our crew that they were closing in ten minutes, when the hours of operation clearly told us they were opened for a good while longer. Whatever.
As for the riding, the people that stood out for me where (in no particular order):
Garret Reynolds (so much wild shit. He won. Check out his part in the new Shook.)
Ty Morrow (look out for this dude, fun to watch. Got head-butted one night)
Gary Young (no explanation needed)
Chase hawk (no explanation needed)
Mike Miller (another dude with great style. Reminds me of Aitken)
Bruno Hoffman (young dude with good style)
All of the usual suspects did some amazing stuff as well during practice and in their runs. I’m sure there are vids all over the net, so search them out.
There was also a 180 long jump contest, which was entertaining. Lots of blowing off the back of the bike. Ty Morrow set the first mark, and it was Garret who eventually beat it. Matt Beringer also proceeded to attempt a backflip off the kicker ramp. That was awesome.
Oh yeah, Chase was awesome in THIS and THIS.
