Hong Kong BMX

Photographer, David Lang is out in Asia right now visiting his family for the holidays. David grew up in Singapore and moved to Vancouver a few years back to go to school. On David’s way to Singapore, he stopped by Hong Kong to visit a few friends and stumbled across a clothing store in Tsim Sha Tsui that had a bunch of old school BMX bikes.

Check out a little write-up and some photos from David after the jump.

So I’m in hong kong right now stopping by for a week to visit friends on my way to see family in Singapore.

Yesterday was walking around an area called Tsim Sha Tsui when my friend and I came across this store. It’s on the third floor and sorta out of common street level sight, but a couple of bmx silhouettes in the window caught my eye. So we hit it up and the store is sweet, they sell clothing with a specialized focus on the cut and material which is refreshing in the super graphic and accessorized hong kong fashion world. There’s a ton of cool art + other stuff too. There were a few nice vintage BMXs including a redline etc, but the one that I found intriguing was this Kuwahara bmx. Turns out it is part of a very limited run and is apparently one of five in the world. So the next day I took my camera there and put a bit of time into shooting the store. Unfortunately the store owner wasn’t there that day so I couldn’t ask him any more questions and confirm the details but here are the pictures.

lang’s stuff is seriously amazing. those finalist photos from elevation were really good, you don’t see photos like that of bmx riders too often.

That’s awesome. I’d like to see more boutiques like that in the states.
