Harrison’s Magazines

I put a little feature together on the Lotek site of five magazines that inspired me. I shot some photos of them and wrote up a few paragraphs about they have effected my work.

i feel the same way about anthem… They were insaaaane with the first issues. Now I barely buy it… or even look at it for more than 3 minutes. Early issues of Anthem were my favorite magazines of all time.
I was thinking the same thing while putting the piece together. Anthem was so good…barely glance at it anymore. The Cody Hudson one was the best magazine cover ever.
can anyone recommend a good design magazine for current day?
Although not as fun the only ones I get that into that actual focus on design anymore are those Computer Arts projects… but it’s usually just a once over since theyre so expensive.
Grafik magazine is by far my favorite magazine that showcases design - http://www.grafikmagazine.co.uk/
There is always HOW, Print, I.D., and Communication Art as well.
Lodown and Arkitip are always good…and Dazed and Confused, duno if you guys get that in the states or not?
Computer Arts is definitely expensive, but you get some decent trial programs each issue. And don’t they have a cd-rom version of an older issue included too? CMYK is worth a look.
I had this old issue of Dazed and Confused that just missed that lotek article… It was such a good issue… photos from Terry Richardson, Ryan McGinley, and Kennith Cappello… It came out right in the beginning of the whole raw New York seenster photo style craze and definitely turned me on to all three of those photographers…
thanks a lot guys, ill have to check some of these out in the future.
