On a trip to Arizona last month to see the Mediocre At Best video, we wound up at a university with Lahsaan Kobza and crew.
The number one reason I like shooting with Kobza is not because he’s from Lincoln, Nebraska … not because he has some of the steeziest 180’s in the game … not because he rides for Vans … not because he used to race BMX … but I really like his hair situation. It’s a backlit dream, and while this isn’t a blooming backlit shot (you know I shot heaps of those from the opposite angle) with the glowing edges bursting with warm, orange, dusk light, It’s still kinda cool with the symmetry of the pillar shadows. Speaking of which, Lahsaan also rides for Shadow, and now that you mention it, I was at the Shadow head quarters last week in Longwood, Florida. So many coincidences.
Shot on a 16.2 megapixel camera released in 2004 by Canon.
I used some pretty outrageous settings here:
Lens (mm): 50
Color temp: preset Cloudy
