Interbike 2011

courtesy of Ride BMX

So yeah, the annual BMX pilgrimage to hell Las Vegas (otherwise known as Interbike) just went down in case you hadn’t noticed elsewhere. For me, the best part of it all is always seeing friends, meeting new people and talking with everyone. So cheers to that!

Here are the Nora Cup results:
#1 Ramp Rider – Dennis Enarson
#1 Dirt Jumper – Chris Doyle (2nd year in a row)
#1 Flatlander – Moto Sasaki
#1 Street Rider – Garrett Reynolds (58,776 year in a row)
#1 Racer – Marc Willers
Best Video Part – Dennis Enarson in Demolition’s “Last Chance”
Video of the Year – Anthem II (Stew Johnson)

If you wanna OD on bike parts, visit The Union and Ride BMX. For all kinds of Nora Cup stuff (like the photo seen above featuring that handsome devil in the Defgrip shirt), visit Ride BMX. And again, shout out to the Ride BMX crew for organizing Nora year after year.

Til next year!

Disposed: Shadow PHX to PDX Trip

Here’s a Disposed feature from the recent Seth Kimbrough edits that dropped.

Ben, Seth, and I have been on a lot of trips together since I took this job back in November of last year. Through those trips, we’ve all become great friends. So when I asked Seth if he’d like to come with me to Portland to ride and finish up his and Ben’s edits, the answer was immediately yes. Throw in my best friend Loofa to shoot photos, and it was the makings of a great trip. Here is a small glimpse of that same great trip, through the eye of Walgreens disposable camera.

Trailer: You Won’t (100 Pools Book)

A trailer for a book? You bet, it’s 2011!!!!! Here’s one for Dean’s 100 Pools book. This has been a long time in the making, can’t wait to see it.

Dean Dickinson has broken his body, his bike, his bank account, and various laws in a quest to reach his personal goal of riding 100 pools. The title of his book—YOU WON’T—is a challenge laid down by some of Dean’s doubters. The reality is—Dean did it, and this project documents it all.

10 years of poached and permission pools are captured with hundreds of amazing images from iconic BMX photographers—Jared Souney, Justin Kosman, Jeff Zielinski, Ryan Fudger, Shad Johnson, and more. The stories pack 20 chapters and 200 pages. Eyewitness accounts with riders include such as Dakota Roche, Mike Tokumoto, Sean “Fish” Hoskins, Spencer and Austin McCabe, Chester Blacksmith, Brian Martyn, Kurt Rasmussen and countless others. Dean’s journey culminates with an epic session with all his friends at the iconic Pink Motel pool. The editorial team on the project includes Dickinson, Jared Souney, Mike Daily, and Mark Lewman. Presented by TEAM SHRALP. Dedicated to James Schiefelbein. Book coming soon!

Photogallery: MacNeil North East Tour

A few months back the MacNeil team headed out to NYC to kick off a two week long tour. It had been years since the MacNeil team hit the East Coast and we decided to break up the trip into two cites. Boston and New York. Everyone flew into NYC and since the weather showed rain for the next week, we drove up to Boston to spend the first half of the trip. Boston was amazing and we rode so many dope spots. One of which was a random High School that ended up being about 20 yards from our hotel that some kid in a grocery store told us about… Huge thanks to Chris and Matty Long for all the other spot tips! After roaming around the city and suburbs for a week, chilling with Lino and the 90 East crew, and riding non-stop, we took a drive back down to New York.

We ended up stoping in Rhode Island for bit on the way back to NYC. We rode Brown University and got kicked out for hanging out in the grass, messed around at the capitol building (or what looked like some sort of capitol building), and watched Chris Silva drive himself to insanity trying some stuff on a flat rail.

Once we got back to NYC we returned the rental van and spend the rest of the trip pedaling around. Most of the guys on the team hadn’t been to New York before, so we spent our first day pedaling everywhere… From Brooklyn to Battery Park up to Time Square and back to Brooklyn. The week in NY feels like a bit of a blur, probably due to the fat that I live here and it’s always weird to be on a road trip in your own city. Big thanks to Torey Kish, Scott Marceau and Brandon Galosi as well as Edwin and Hoder for having out and riding with us.

Terrell Gordy was on the trip with us from Props and put together great edits from the trip. The whole thing turned into a three part series, the first two are online now and the third should be up soon. You can check them on the Props site here – Part 1 & Part 2.

The following photos are a mix of riding photos, snap shots and some iPhone stuff. There’s more pics from the Boston leg due to the fact that I was filming more when we were in NY. All in all, the trip was amazing and I had a great time with everyone on the MacNeil team -Dillon Lloyd, Greg Flag, Chris Silva, Chris Martindale and Taylor Elvy, who was new to the team and survived through his first trip! Hope you enjoy the photos and keep a look out for the third video on Props!

22 Minutes of Haro in Australia

Here’s some good Sunday morning viewing. Haro in Australia.

At the end of 2010 a few of the Haro team riders headed to Australia to go down under for an adventure of a lifetime. Sun, sand, skateparks and all the fun you could fit into one trip. Landing in Sydney the guys headed off south through Canberra and Melbourne with a quick stop in Brisbane before checking in and heading home. Thanks to all the shops we were able to stop and visit and everyone we had the chance to ride and hangout with.

Directed/Edited:
Terrell Gordy

Riders:

Colin Mackay

Enjoy!

After launching The Hunt back in the spring, Pro-Tec came to us an wanted to kick down an extra grand for the rider who really took riding to the next level. We came up with The Pro-Tec Progression Impression Best Trick Bonus for $1000.

While the judges are making their final decisions on the top-ten riders who will be featured in the final DVD, we used their input to cut this best-trick reel and we want you to give us your best picks. This footage is made of up stand-out tricks nominated by the judges and the filmers, and Will Stroud will be looking at your tweets when he makes the final call on who get the cheddar. This is going to be a tough one.
