Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

Over the last couple of weeks, the main albums in my rotation have been GOBLIN and the new Fleet Foxes album. Both of these albums couldn’t be any more different, but I’m equally stoked on both.

Even though I’ve heard of Fleet Foxes before, I never actually heard them. No idea what they sounded like. When I bought the new album, I basically judged a book by its cover. I picked up the CD and thought “wow, cool cover and text”, I then turned it over to some pics of the band and thought “these look like some proper musical hippies”. That’s all, done deal.

I’m glad I picked up Helplessness Blues, because it’s a great album and definitely musical. It’s full of big soaring melodies and has an overall mellow vibe.  Perfect for early mornings or rainy days kinda thing. Furthermore, the music breathes and doesn’t sound too digital or overproduced.  Quality stuff for sure.  If you’re into folk-y indie stuff, check out this album

It’s not often I come across albums good enough to write about here, but this one is definitely worth it.

I love that this is the next music feature after Goblin. Both great albums in their own way. The juxtaposition couldn’t be better. I have always enjoyed the spread of Defgrip’s collective spread of interests and tastes. Thanks again.

The helpnessless blues track of the album, reminds me on my way back home of a far trip. Havin the first hot shower, warm clothes, etc. The comfort of Home. Thanks Defgrip!
