Shane – The first BMX photo I shot that I considered ‘good’ was of Shane Weston. I had no idea how the photo was made, at that time I just turned on the camera to sports mode (the manual even had a photo of a guy doing a tailwhip, how fitting) and fired away. Since that time, I’ve shot more photos of Shane than any other rider. And even though we are two very different people, we’ve managed to become good friends. To me this photo sums up his personality pretty well, anyone who’s met him I think would agree. On a technical note, the reason I shot this particular portrait was to see what it would look like to bounce a flash off a limestone wall facing Shane about four feet away.
