Jimmy McGuigan by Josh McElwee - click to enlarge

I’ve always been fascinated with spots located in the middle of nowhere.  This wall is located along the road of the local reservoir.  It’s been ridden before, but hasn’t seen any action in several years.  Jimmy McGuigan and I were brainstorming about a good location, and I remembered this gem.

We arrived right as the light was getting good, so I quickly set up a strobe across the road and started shooting.  There’s no bank or anything, it’s just a small bump about 3 or 4 feet before the wall.  It took about 10 tries to do it properly, but Jimmy ended up getting it done before the light went away.

I took this with a Canon Rebel Xt, a Canon 70-200mm f/4, an Alien Bee 800 strobe powered by a Vagabond II battery pack, and Pocket Wizard Transcievers.

This is going to sound weird, but I really enjoy the crop that Harrison made.

Haha. Thanks guys! I was stoked on all the little rocks and stuff in the road and it was rad that Josh’s photo was so big, so I was able to get in all nice and close…
