The Great Wall. This is near a section of the Wall called Simatai that is known as one of the more gnarly but authentic sections of the Wall since it hasn’t been reconstructed yet. It is very difficult to understand how the Chinese managed to build this wall over such steep and formidable terrain so long ago. I thought the Great Wall would be a disappointment, but I was completely wrong. It is every bit as amazing as the pictures and textbooks make it out to be.
