Several months ago I posted a MySpace bulletin asking if anyone had good ideas of where I could go on vacation and someone replied with, “Ecuador.” I thought it sounded cool and I had the frequent flyer miles to get me there, so I booked the trip without any prior knowledge of the country, and without any contacts there. A few emails and messages later (thanks Google and Facebook) I had the contacts I needed to make my trip successful.
I hung out with local riders for a week in the capital city of Quito, then spent another week doing things like white water rafting, repelling down waterfalls, and exploring jungles. The trip as a whole was by far one of the best trips I’ve ever been on, and even though I only brought one lens and no flashes I was really excited to shoot photos along the way. I shot a ton of color photos and ended up making a book with them and was really happy with how it came out. But what was I to do with the three rolls of black and white photos I shot? I found my answer at a little place we like to refer to as “The Grip”… I hope you enjoy this tiny glimpse of an amazing country filled with awesome people, incredible sights, and for lack of better words, interesting foods.
