Lee Reynolds Interview

What type of things do you sell there?

We sell clothing, accessories and jewelry from local designers… mostly one of a kind stuff. Art, records, glassware. We also have tons of cool vintage clothes, a lot of which is re-worked by Zoe. Plus we sell our design services.

— Do you do the buying? Is this one of your hobbies or is it more up your wife’s alley?

Zoe does most of the buying, but the whole family enjoys hunting for the vintage stuff. When we’re not in the shop we’re out digging for treasures.

— How did you get into music? What type of music? Talk about DJing a bit.

I couldn’t imagine life without music… it’s always been a huge part of my life. I started DJing around ’92, I was really into the whole ambient chill out scene and started throwing parties in San Diego. The music has evolved a lot since then, I’m more into making people dance these days! I would say the stuff I play now would best be described as tech house, but I try and keep it interesting and weird. I DJ about once a week around town and have a monthly event that I promote and play at.

— So on to design. Tell us some of the companies you’ve designed for.

Fox, Ecko, Thor, Body Glove, and Shift are a few. I designed Fox’s BMX and MTB line for about 6 seasons, that was a pretty fun job. I was stoked to see Kevin Robinson and Jay Eggleston still using the Fox knee and elbow guards I designed at Woodward OS get together.
