Red Bull brought David Lang out to the Commordore in Vancouver last night to shoot Steve Aoki and Mstrkrft. In typical David Lang fashion, he stayed up all night editing photos, sending a link out at 9am to an amazing photo gallery on his blog.
Vancouver artist Caleb Beyers is having an opening for a solo show at El Kartle, a boutique on Robson St. in Vancouver. If you are in the city you should stop by this Saturday night, Sept 12th and check it out. Caleb will have a wide rang of work on display from hand made paper figures to wild pencil drawings. If you can’t make it, check out Caleb’s work on his website and continue reading to see a preview of some of the art that will be on display.
I discovered Mike Piscitelli on his quest for 1,000 followers on twitter yesterday from a shout out by Day 19. It looks like Mike got to his goal because as it sits right now, he has 1,001 followers… Now all he needs to do is hit 100,000 followers by 10/10/10…
Anyway… Mike is an amazing photographer and director based out of Santa Monica with an even more amazing bio.
“Spawned from the San Fernando Valley, Mike Piscitelli dropped out of ninth grade to pursue skateboarding, hardcore music and teenage girls. He ended up working as an assistant on porn films, which spurred his interest in photography and film…”
Grain Edit has a rad collection of vintage Porsche posters from the 60′s and 70′s on their site. I could definitely live with any one of these poster blown up huge in my house, the only problem would pick picking one…
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out a great edit by Konstantin Alemasov from Russia featuring Mihail Rostomyan riding some trails in Moscow. Like all of Konstantin’s other edits, the quality is top notch!
Not only is Yimmy’s Yayo one of my favorite image blogs, it was the first site like this that I bookmarked. If you haven’t checked out Yimmy’s yet, the basic concept is to share random inspiration, or “Visual crack for the ocular fiend.”. Everyday when I open up my RSS reader, I get excited to see what incredible images have graced the paged of Yimmy’s Yayo. Even a few things from Defgrip have even ended up on this site (you might have remembered this post a while back about a photos journey across the world wide web).
Yimmy’s Yayo had a huge month traffic wise in August and to celebrate the growth of the site you can now download the first 999 images! I downloaded the file, attempted to go through it and man, is it a massive file. I picked a few of my favorites to show after the jump, but if you are in need of some amazing inspiration, download the file and go nuts!
For anyone who’s on Virb, they have a photo sweepstakes going on right now. You can either find a photo you like, or nominate your photo for the contest. A finalist will be picked once a day for 10 days by the Virb staff and on the 10th day, Virb is going to let their community vote for the winner who will win a Leica C-Lux 3!
Hoang Tran (who doubles as an awesome photographer) sent through some photos he took during the recent Subrosa Japan trip. The photos were all shot on film with either a Canon T60 or a Holga. Good stuff.
