It seems like there are a bunch of videos in the making, or about to come out nowadays.
Primo’s new video “Nice Try” is one such video, and I threw a few quick questions at Nate about it.
Click below to check that out, and keep checking back for more Q&A’s.
NATE, GIVE A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF NICE TRY IN 5 WORDS.
Awesome good times on DVD.
HOW DID THE TITLE COME ABOUT?
At one point, we really had a lot more nice tries than pulled clips, so it started as a joke that stuck.
IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE THE LAST PRIMO VIDEO, WHEN WAS THE DECISION MADE TO START WORKING ON A NEW ONE?
Like a year and a half ago we made a few good web edits, and the riders Glenn and I were all really into trying to put a full length video together, since it has been almost 10 years or something since the last one.
WAS THERE ANY KIND OF FEEL OR DIRECTION YOU GUYS WANTED WITH THIS VIDEO?
We just wanted it to look and feel fun and make you want to go out and ride after watching it.
WHERE HAS FILMING TAKEN YOU GUYS?
Let’s see there were multiple trips to SF and Sacramento, all over LA, Toronto, Phoenix, Tucson and probably one more place I’m forgetting.
ANY MAJOR HEADACHES ALONG THE WAY?
Oh yeah the headaches! Well the major one was the team change, but it all worked out. Then, just organizing trips and dealing with injuries. Those are all the typical headaches that come with making a video I guess.
IS THERE A SINGLE MEMORY THAT STANDS OUT FROM MAKING THIS VIDEO?
Not a single memory, but whenever I’m out with Tony, Boy and Eman, they always remind me of the craziest stuff that went on during the trips. There’s seriously so many funny or weird things that happened you could fill a book.
WAS IT DIFFICULT PICKING A SONG FOR YOUR OWN PART?
Not really, the song I used was something that I was into for a while. It’s always on the iPod playlist.
SPEAKING OF, WHAT MUSIC CAN PEOPLE EXPECT IN NICE TRY?
Let’s see theres the Steve Miller band, Florence and the Machine, Young Jeezy, Bob Dylan, and I can’t think of the rest but its a good mix up of tunes.
WHOSE PART TOOK THE LONGEST TO COMPLETE, AND WHO HAD THE MOST FOOTAGE?
All the parts took about the same amount of time except Tony’s was the fastest, he started filming in January or February because of knee surgery. He knocked it out quick though. Most footage I think was me, I had footage for days HAHA!
A LOT OF COMPANIES ARE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER WHEN IT COMES TO DVD’S THESE DAYS. WHAT PREVENTED YOU GUYS FROM JUST PUTTING OUT SOMETHING FREE?
We pretty much are giving something away for free, we are selling the DVD with a limited edition set of grips. Only 5000 grips and DVD’s will be released and together they retail for $10, so its like getting a DVD for free when you buy a pair of gips or vice versa.
WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO PACKAGE THE VIDEO WITH SPECIAL GRIPS?
I did actually, we were trying to think of a way to give the DVD away, and I just thought it might a cool way to get it out there.
THANKS! ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD BEFORE WE WRAP THIS?
Just thanks to all the riders in the video for putting their health and lives on the line for it, and Glenn for spending many days without sleep editing and capturing footage, Oh and Joel Gurga and everyone at Tipplus and Primo.
