Audi and BMW Billboards

I thought that these Audi commercials were pretty funny and accurate because they made fun of Lexus, a car which no self-respecting car enthusiast would buy. But then I drove by their Santa Monica billboard which says “Your Move, BMW” and thought it was a bit weird, not just because it’s corny but also because comparatively, BMW is still actually a pretty decent German brand, in a douchey, 2nd-to-Mercedes-and-Porsche sort of way.

So it’s extra funny to me that BMW dropped a billboard directly across the street soon after, featuring the M3 Coupe and the word “Checkmate”.

    well first off, a bmw m3 isnt even in the same class as an audi a4, thats kind of like a queen against a pawn. they should have put up an ad of a regular 3 series which still blows an a4 out of the water, sorry audi fanssssss.

    You’re right, I think the point was to purposely one-up Audi, since it was “BMW’s move”.

    1. did you really not get the “your move line” right away. These two companies are in direct competition so it makes complete sense.
    2. M3 and A4 aren’t at all in the same class so it doesn’t make sense for the checkmate to be a piece from a different game. Normal 3 series would have made more sense but since it’s not new it wouldn’t really work on that end.
    3. M3 is dope, but coupes are wack.
    4. quattro is amazing.

    All I’m saying is they could have one upped them with a 3 series basic and called it a deal lol.
