UTAH TRIP PHOTOS

Check out a few random photos of the people, places and details from my recent trip to Utah.

I had mentioned how Cam Wood and the Tanner locals decorated the trails, and you will see some of that, as well as some costumes and stuff from Beringer’s.

Utah is a sweet place to visit.

Check out the photos HERE.

Mike Holmes on The Hour

Mike Holmes estimates that “up to eighty percent of contractors are unskilled or dishonest, or both”.

Watch this quick episode of “The Hour” featuring Mike Holmes. Here’s an excerpt to get you familiar:

“The homes Mike will build will have living roofs, radiant floor heating, and water recapture systems. All in a bid to be as eco-friendly as possible. But the community is about more than just flawless structure. Mike wants the people living there to walk around, talk to each other and reconnect with what a community is suppose to be. If that weren’t enough, while Mike is building a community from scratch he’s helping to re-build another one. The Ninth Ward in New Orleans, as part of a project with the ‘Make It Right Foundation’ It’ll become part of a television series that premieres this January.”

UTAH

I just got back from Utah, where Jim Bauer and I went to hit up the Mike Aitken Tanner jam to help support the cause.

The 50/50 crew and Tanner locals did an unreal job putting on the jam, and decorating the trails with pumpkins and Halloween stuff. I can only imagine how long it took to lug all those pumpkins down to where the trails are. Good job guys!!! Riders showed up and shredded in costumes too. Check out Skier J’s Flickr page for a few pics.

All in all, over $5,200 was raised to help Mike, which ain’t bad at all. A bunch of good stuff got raffled off, and a lot of people left happy. After riding, Jim and I were able to pay Mike a quick visit, where we received some promising news from his family, which you can read about on the Mike Aitken site. He was resting at the time, but everyone was pretty positive after the progress of the day.

If you are able to donate and help Mike, please visit the 50/50 site.

CHRIS HILL-SCOTT

I got a Flickrmail from Chris informing me that he has re-launched his photo website.

Check out his site HERE. There’s a bunch of pages to check out.

Arkitip | Parra | Incase

Arkitip and Incase teamed up with the artist Parra to produce a limited series iPhone Slider case and a sleeve for your MacBook pro. Along with the project, they have released a video giving you a look inside Parra’s world. The video was shot by Parra while he is narrating at the same time, making for a pretty interesting video.

Check out the project here and watch the video after the jump -

Defgrip X DVS shoe Auction for Mike Aitken

Over the passed few months, I had been working on a little shoe project with DVS. We initially started working on concepts using DVS’s Carson shoe (a nice standard shape with a vulcanized sole, but have decided to move to a different model). In the design process I received two sample from DVS, and we will be auctioning one of them off to help raise money for Mike Aitken and his family.

The shoe is a one-off sample, so it’s a size 9. Check out the auction here. The shoe is starting at $40, so get your bid on and help a fellow BMXer!

Click here for the auction and check out a bunch of photos of the shoe after the jump.

Caleb Everitt Update

Caleb Everitt, the graphic designer behind Mutiny Bikes,  just left a comment on the last post, reminding me that I should check out his site. I was wonderfully surprised to see a nice update and thought everyone might like to check it out!

Maiden Noir

My friend Nin Troung has a rad feature up on the Complex site. Nin is an owner of Goods, Manik, and Maiden Noir and this video focus’s on Nin’s creative process and ides with his clothing company, Maiden Noir. You get to see a bunch of the clothing, swatches, and his sketches, but beware of the really annoying pop up ads!

Check out Nin’s video after the jump – Continue reading Maiden Noir →

Volume Catalog

For those of you who haven’t seen it, you can check out Volume’s 09 catalog “Gypsy” on their website. Rather than just throwing up the pdf, they put together a nice HTML version for your viewing pleasure. I’m real psyched on how the whole project turned out, and make sure you check out the curb dogs section. So good!

Check out Volume’s Gipsy catalog here.

Teller and Baron

Two great fashion related articles I’ve come across recently. The first is from New York Magazine with photographer Jurgen Teller and the second is with one of my favorite graphic designers Fabien Baron.

Check out the Jurgen Teller article here and the Fabein Baron article here

Hole Shot Zine

Nike Ferreira sent over a copy of the third issue of the Hole Shot Zine and I thought I’d shoot a few photos for the site. The Zine is rad and you should definitely pick up a copy. My favorite part is the Dirt Ron fold out poster!! Check out the Hole Shot site and check out the zine after the jump.

SAM ADAMS @ RANDOM

I shot this image last week of Mario Carrasco riding a new ramp in my friend’s backyard. We are moving the ramp from one yard to another, and this is the first ride-able section that was set up.

When Mario and I shot this, it was in the last few minutes of light in the day and the ramp was getting pretty hard to see despite how the photo looks. The nice thing though is since we are getting into the fall season, the sunsets here in ABQ start changing to some really nice colors.

The Levi’s Video

We usually don’t do video reviews, but Will Stroud hooked us up with a preview of the Levi’s video the other day and I just wanted to let everyone know that Corey/Dak/Nathan’s part is probably one of the best video parts I have ever seen. Their part spans over two songs and I swear the last song is full of nothing but bangers. I was blown away by how much footage they had, or even all the riders for that matter, after all the web content they released over the past year.

I was really pumped to hear that Levi’s was doing a DVD and the result turned out great. Make sure to pick the video up when it comes out, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for 2009.
